World Bank will grant Côte d’Ivoire $1 billion to support the country’s development, the bank’s vice president for Africa Makhtar Diop (photo) announced yesterday recently.
According to the official, mentioned by Xinhua, the resource should be provided by the end of the current fiscal year (next June). It will be backed by another $500 million that will be directed to agriculture, education and energy sectors.
Let’s note that the country is set to record one of the strongest economic growths across the continent in 2018 (+7.2%).
In fact, since 2018 started, Côte d’Ivoire achieved several fund mobilizations to finance investment projects. The latest fundraising (€1.7 billion), collected at the end of a road show last March 15, should allow the country to finance projects ascribed to the 2018 budget.
